Job Description

Our client UDA Rapid Transit was formed in 2014 in order to provide accessible, safe and quality passenger transport services to customers in an efficient and cost effective manner.
With a vision to be the largest regional road passengers transport operator in cities and towns of Eastern, Southern and Central Africa, linking regions and districts and connecting countries.
The Company has recently been awarded the right to operate the Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (DART Project); they therefore wish to employ an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will report to the COO.

The Operations Manager will be accountable and responsible for, among others to:

Supervise a workforce of over 300 bus operators;
Perform daily dispatching and related activities;
Coordinate drivers’ work roasters and allocation to buses;
Liaise with the Workshop, Stations and Infrastructure Managers to ensure that buses with mechanical problems are reported as soon as the problem is identified and that drivers adhere to station etiquette;
Monitor radio communications and operator adherence to attendance and reporting times;
Maintain records, time sheets, prepare written reports, and Act as a liaison between management and operators concerning policies and procedures.

Job Specification

The candidate will have strong investigative experience for accident/incident reporting and provide assistance to operators during accidents, with customer complaints, disciplinary actions, and other issues.
Working experience in a BRT or mass passenger transport business of not less than 5 years, at least 3 of which must have been in a management or supervisory position;
Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn computer software as necessary;
Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;
Excellent communicator both written and orally; and
Ability and willingness to work in Tanzania.
