The Volunteer’s Role

As the Business Development Advisor, apply your management skills to directly mentor AGAPE management and staff under the SHARE project support in Shinyanga, Tanzania.

The SHARE project supports Community Based Organizations to overcome existing barriers to grow their businesses in food production, natural resource products, and other agribusiness value chains.

SHARE pays particular attention to the challenges which women and youth communities face by matching them with skilled volunteers with management and entrepreneurial experience to provide guidance. The project also helps trains our partner organizations through and the use of our skilled volunteers to start their own business and provides financial mentorship to support these Small Community Based Organizations that are ready to expand their operations


As a volunteer, you will:

  • Train AGAPE staff in business management, includingmarket analysis and developing business plans
  • Improve capacity of AGAPE to win new Projects with new donors
  • Support writing new concepts notes to achieve standards required by the donors


Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Value Chain Management, or another relevant field
  • 3 5 years’ work experience in a management position
  • 3 5 years’ management experience in the production of a good for sale
  • Facilitation and training skills; experience in development and delivering workshops


Essential Background:

  • Cross-cultural experience in coaching/mentoring and training

Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, with a view to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.


Partner - AGAPE AIDS CONTROL PROGRAMME (AACP)

Agape AIDS Control Program is a national NGO working to end child marriages in the Shinyanga region in Tanzania. The organisation was founded in 2009 and advocates for a change in the Child Marriage Act. Agape also raises awareness on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

Terms and Conditions

Cuso International terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle while being effective in your placement. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (ex. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.
